Paret från en av Sveriges största reseblogg är just nu på väg runt Irland med husbil. Du kan följa deras resa här:

(Det görs i samarbete med Irlands turistbyrå som har hjälpt med logistiken men är till stor del också en privatresa.)

Our first meeting since before the parade, which takes a lot of our attention during February and March. We had lots to discuss, including the upcoming AGM, elections, a revised constitution, a new website and membership software, the accounts...to name just a few!!! No wonder we were tired afterwards! Thanks everyone for your contributions.

We are transitioning to exciting new software - so there are parts of the website that don't look quite right!

    Please bear with us!

At the end of May we will hold our annual general meeting. This is where we, the board, are held accountable for the running of the society throughout the year. We will present what we have done and how the society is performing. You, the members, can ask us questions and make suggestions. (Formal suggestions, or "motions", must be submitted in advance.)

The AGM is also where new board members are voted in. We need new people every year as members come to the end of their term. At a minimum, being on the board means participating in meetings throughout the year, helping to organise and run events, managing membership registrations and payments and generally ensuring the society grows and thrives.

If you are interested in hearing more about what is involved, please email info@swedishirish.com as soon as you can and we'll contact you.

Another fabulous production by the Society's drama wing, Spuds and Sill, performing a John B. Keane play for the first time, on 6th and 7th April at Teater Lederman, Stockholm

They did "Big Maggie" justice and the audience was thoroughly engaged, moved and entertained.

This group performs annually in March and is open to amateur actors. Feel free to get involved!

Our first Pop-up Gaeltacht Mingle was held at Kulturhuset.

People of all levels of Irish got together and aired their cúpla focal!

Thanks to our Irish language enthusiast Max for organising this!

On the 9th December 2017 we got together for our annual Christmas Party to enjoy a traditional roast turkey and ham dinner with the trimmings, Christmas carols, a raffle, and some impromptu Irish set dancing (much to the amusement of the restaurant staff!)

Thanks to the staff at Brasilia restaurant and to Irish band Fada (aka Brian Friel and Loughy) who provided the fantastic entertainment!

On the 7th October we feasted on superb Irish produce from sea and farm at our annual Crab lunch. Seasam AB provided delicious Cashelmara crabs, and Bord Bia provided artisan cheeses and chutneys. The Society provided the rest of the food, including a Guinness and Bailey's flavoured cake and a Donegal-themed playlist!
